Our approach to sustainability has been central to aujune since day one. We aspire to work in a way that has a positive impact on the world we live in, rather than a negative one. We’re not perfect, and we’re not pretending to have all the answers. But we’re committed to continually improving and doing what we can to leave smaller footprints on the earth. Here are some of the ways we are doing that…

Recycled Metals
ONE
The majority of the jewellery I make uses either recycled 925 sterling silver or recycled 9ct gold. Recycled metals are made by melting scrap jewellery and can also come from other industries such as the medical, electronics and giftware industries.
This process reduces the demand for newly mined metal and can also help to reduce the environmental impact of gold and silver mining.
Using recycled sterling silver and gold is the same quality as if they were newly mined.
My recycled metal supplier is continually assessed to provide assurance that their recycled precious metal is created using a fully traceable and audited process.
I also collect as much of the scrap metal and offcuts produced in my studio as possible. I melt these scraps down and reuse them in new designs. This ensure as little metal as possible goes to waste, without compromising on quality.
Some of the smaller findings used in my jewellery - such as the jump rings - do not currently use recycled metals. However this is something my supplier is working towards and I will make the switch as soon as these become available to me.

Forever Not Fashion
TWO
In today’s fast-paced world there is high-demand for on-trend, inexpensive pieces that are worn for a short period of time before being discarded. This approach is not only wasteful but also contributes to the depletion of natural resources, pollution, and other environmental problems.
I encourage investing in long-lasting, meaningful jewellery, made with high-quality materials and craftsmanship. None of my pieces are plated meaning that, while more expensive at the outset, they are investment pieces that will hold their value and last for a lifetime.
Through my Care and Repair service I can also help extend the lifetime of your favourite pieces by repairing them if they get damaged, cleaning them and adding new personalisation as needed.

British Made
THREE
All of aujune's jewellery is hand-made in my studio in the South-East of England.
I use traditional artisan metalsmithing techniques - forging, sawing, soldering, filing, hammering, drilling, stamping and polishing - to make your jewellery.
When something requires specialist techniques - such as making chains and clasps - I obtain these from trusted UK-based suppliers.

Trusted Suppliers
FOUR
I source as many of my materials as close to home as possible, with the majority of the raw metal, chains and findings I use coming from UK suppliers.
All of my suppliers are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council which promotes sustainable business practices. This includes the traceability of materials and the promotion of ethical, human rights and environmental practices.

Planet-Friendly Packaging
FIVE
My packaging is good for your jewellery and good for the earth.
